SOLIHULL police have launched a murder inquiry after discovering the body of a woman at an address in Marston Green.

SOLIHULL police have launched a murder inquiry after discovering the body of a woman at an address in Marston Green.

The victim, who is yet to be named but believed to be in her mid 20s, was discovered at the Holly Lane property yesterday at 1.30pm.

She had sustained fatal head injuries.

Officers said investigations were at an early stage but the reported death of a man on a nearby stretch of railway, earlier the same day, is being treated as a significant line of enquiry.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We can confirm that a 41-year-old man died after being struck by a train at Marston Green rail station. The incident was reported at 11.17am and is being treated as an individual act.”

The train involved was the 11.09am Birmingham International to Holyhead rail service. The railway has since reopened.
