Samantha Davies, owner of the successful Village Barbers, on The Green in Kings Norton, has opened a second upmarket barbershop in her hometown of Shirley.

Ashton Finley, named after Samantha’s children, is based on Haslucks Green Road and offers its male clients sports massages and tanning beds alongside traditional haircuts for all ages.

“It has always been my dream to open a top class barber shop in my hometown,” said Samantha, aged 40. “I’ve always preferred barbering to hairdressing. The other shop is a traditional barber shop but we wanted to offer a bit of pampering for men in Shirley. Blokes are a bit more bothered about how they look these days.”

Professional sports and remedial massage therapist Julie Newman will also be based at the barbers, offering her services to improve sporting performance and all round wellbeing.

“I wanted to maintain the friendly, basic barber shop tradition that I know my customers from Kings Norton have enjoyed for over 15 years.

“We’re looking forward to the shop becoming as well known and loved as the village barbers.”
