Solihull Council has appointed Salford City Council’s Nick Page as its new chief executive.

Nick joins the borough from his current position as Strategic Director of Children’s Services and Interim Head of Paid Services in Manchester.

The appointment was formally ratified by full council last week and he will take up the post on July 1.

He replaces Mark Rogers, who left Solihull in February for a new role as chief executive of Birmingham City Council.

Nick said: “I am so thrilled to be coming to work with such a great council and community. Like all authorities, Solihull has its challenges ahead and I am very much looking forward to helping lead the council through them whilst also achieving better outcomes and delivering value for money to residents.”

Solihull Council Pay Policy Statement March 2013, said the chief executive salary fell between £122,745 and £130,111.

Nick began his career as a teacher in London, and also worked in the private sector working on educational projects, transformation of local communities and integrating services for children and families.

In May 2009, he was appointed Deputy Director for Children’s Services in Salford, promoted to Acting Director in 2010.

In nearly five years at Salford City Council, Nick oversaw the complete restructure of Children’s Services and led Salford’s Safeguarding Services for Children and Young People out of the previous “inadequate” safeguarding judgement in October 2012 to earn an “adequate” rating.
