Solihull Job Club has linked up with Solihull College to help jobseekers back into work.
Established in 2009, the club has supported jobhunters with help with CVs, interview technique and advice, backed up by lots of tea and coffee.
Now the college has developed a complementary short course which dovetails with the help provided by the Job Club.
Maggie Throup, who founded Solihull Job Club in 2009, said: “We were delighted when Solihull College approached us asking to run a three week course alongside our job club. This has added an extra dimension to our offering and we intend this to be an ongoing partnership we can develop to benefit Solihull’s job seekers.”
Maggie and her team have helped over 120 people over the two years with many more just dropping in for on the spot advice and a chat.
“I was made redundant myself 15 years ago so I know what these people are going through and it’s good just to put something back.”
Gill Hutchings MBE, senior director for community education and skills for life at Solihull College, said: “Solihull College are pleased to work in partnership with the Job Club.
“The programme that we deliver helps people with CV writing, interview techniques and job search skills. It is extremely well attended and hopefully we move people into employment.”
Solihull Job Club meets every Monday from 10.30am to 12.30pm at the John Palmer Hall in Union Road, Solihull.
