THE Marie Curie Hospice in Solihull has appointed a new community team leader.
Birmingham-born Jennifer Brewer is a registered nurse and has worked with Marie Curie in Solihull for the past six years. Now she will be heading up a specialist team of community nurses and therapists, who will be providing support to patients with terminal illnesses.
Jennifer will also be looking after the hospice’s day services - which support people with diseases like cancer, heart failure and Multiple Sclerosis.
She said: “Most people do not realise how extensive and easily accessible the services are that we offer, and that these are all free of charge.
“We can provide help for people at a much earlier stage of their illness than they might think, and it extends to those who have life-limiting illnesses other than cancer. Our aim is to ensure we meet the needs and wishes of our local community in the most effective way.
Day services include occupational therapy, physiotherapy, nursing, medical, spiritual and social support services.
Professionals in all of these specialist areas can offer advice, assessment and ongoing support via the outpatient facility.
