PLANS to build a new health centre in the middle of Balsall Common have been submitted to Solihull Council
The up-to-date building has been designed to replace an existing - rather cramped - surgery.
The new premises would be situated on the junction of Hall Meadow Road and Station Road - close to the Brickmaker’s Arms pub
Plans for the facility were devised by Solihull NHS Care Trust, working alongside the Balsall Common and Meriden Group Practise.
Sally Burton, the care trust’s chief executive, said: “This is an exciting development for Balsall Common. It is a major investment in local health and social care services.
“The plot the practice currently occupies is not big enough so we have looked at other sites.
“After a thorough search and investigation of all possible sites, we believe a council-owned site at Riddings Hill is the best option, being suitable, available and affordable.”
Aside from a primary care centre, there would also be facilities to provide physiotherapy, district nursing and a number of other services.
A pharmacy and dentists would be housed in the same building.
