Residents have objected to plans to build a four bedroom home behind a property in Warwick Road, Solihull.

The council’s planning committee granted permission for the new house, despite concerns that the new building is not in keeping with the area and will cause problems with parking and loss of open space.

Speaking at last week’s meeting, Councillor John Windmill (Lib Dem, Olton) said: “We might say here we go again. Why a four bedroom home? We are looking for smaller homes.”

Coun Glenis Slater (Lib Dem, Elmdon) added: “It is out of keeping with the area and I find it difficult to support the application.”

But Coun Jim Ryan (Con, Bickenhill) said it was the right of the applicant to submit such an application and supported the plans.
