PEOPLE with mobility difficulties can now shop in style after Solihull Council funded the purchase of a fleet of new scooters for the town Shopmobility scheme.
The council has given £20,000 to the charity which supplies the equipment.
The funding has paid for 11 top of the range electric scooters and four new wheelchairs.
The purchases mean there are now over 90 wheelchairs and scooters available for Shopmobility customers.
Shopmobility, which has been in Solihull since 1997, is based in Drury Lane, Mell Square, and Touchwood.
Cabinet member for community services and environment, Councillor Kate Wild said: “Everybody should be able to make the most of the town centre’s great shopping facilities and we’re pleased we are able to contribute to this wonderful service.”
