Nifty 50 Live and loving it

A LOCAL dance company have performed at the Clothes Show Live 2011.

A LOCAL dance company have performed at the Clothes Show Live 2011.

On Saturday December 3, 50 dancers from Olton-based Phoenix Dance Company performed their mix of “funky dance, pop and commercial jazz” at the region’s biggest fashion event.

Their 15-minute slot at midday on the Spirit Stage with “pop music video” style moves gave many their first taste of fame.

Dance teacher Vicki Scott, who set up the company 12 years ago, said: “I’m really pleased with all my dancers. They did absolutely brilliantly. It was such a great opportunity for them.

“You don’t get much bigger than the Clothes Show.”

Phoenix Dance Company has members aged from four to 40 and hold classes for a range of levels from Monday to Thursday, 5pm-8pm, at Langley Primary School on St Bernards Road, Solihull.

“We have lots of different levels and I’ve even had some of my students go on to dance professorially,” added Vicki, aged 34 from Solihull.
