AS directed by Mark Rogers in his letter “Open your eyes”, I logged on to the Solihull Council website in my quest to find out the earnings of top council officials.
It lists six in what is called the corporate leadership team, headed by Mr Rogers, the chief executive. But irritatingly, the webpage doesn’t give a figure for basic salary, merely the pay scales for their jobs.
In the case of Mr Rogers, the range is £115,343 to £130,111. And for another employee, Lesley Heale, Director for People (whatever that means), the difference between the minimum and maximum salary is a whopping £23,000.
Given that the figures don’t seem to include pension contributions or bonuses, there’s no real indication of a person’s total earnings - something we taxpayers are forking out for.
Solihull Council could give fuller details of employees’ earnings on its website, but for non-computer users how about also using its propaganda sheet, Your Solihull - delivered to the majority of homes in the borough - to back up the job?
