The arrival today, Friday, of their unique Flower Power car at Hillfield Park, covered from wheel to window in grass and flowers, will mark the official launch of the borough-wide competition, part of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom campaign 2012.
Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Irene Chamberlain, will announce the competition which gives local businesses, residents and community groups the chance to enter a fantastic floral display to try and win hundreds of pounds worth of Notcutts vouchers.
Staff from the Shirley based garden centre will also be on hand throughout the day to give expert advice to aspiring gardeners.
David Hitchman, Centre Manager at Notcutts in Solihull, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be taking part in Solihull in Bloom again this year. It’s a fantastic community event in which gardeners from all groups and ages can submit and share their spectacular displays. Our one-of-a-kind ‘Flower Power’ car is a fun, floral way of kicking off our partnership for 2012 and we’ll be hosting lots more exciting promotional activity in the coming weeks- so keep a good look out!”
Solihull has entered the regional Heart of England in Bloom Competition successfully since 1996 and is now embarking on its 17th successive bloom. From 2003 through to 2010, Solihull has either been nominated or awarded Gold regional winners.
