Now you know

I’M sure I am not alone in sometimes wondering how best to dispose of sundry articles.

I’M sure I am not alone in sometimes wondering how best to dispose of sundry articles.

Having decided to dispose of about 20 old video cassettes and also a collection of old dry batteries (labelled ‘dispose carefully’) I enquired of the council. I was told there was no special recycling method so they could be placed in the usual household refuse.

I thought, to quote Michael Caine ‘Not a lot of people know that’ but your readers will know now.

Professionals

I WISH to thank the staff and chaplains who have been so kind to me during my visits to Solihull Hospital and my operation at Heartlands.

I especially wish to thank the staff of Ward 10 Heartlands who have been so helpful. I can truly say, and my wife joins me, that all the staff performed their duties with empathy, tenacity and professionalism.

I am also very grateful to my fellow patients in my bay as they appear so brave, coping with pain and facing the future.

Though I am still awaiting the reports of the biospy I feel with God’s help I can face whatever opens up before me.

Successful stay

I WOULD like to praise and extend grateful thanks to Solihull Spire Parkway Hospital for the care and attention that I received during my recent surgery there.

I entered the hospital full of anxiety but the warm and friendly manner in which I was handled quickly turned it into a relaxed and pleasurable experience.I would like to particularly mention and thank ward sister Sara; nurses Haley, Netsae and Martin, Sheila and Debbie. In addition thanks to all the others - nurses, physios, theatre staff, catering staff, etc. who all played an important part in ensuring that my stay in hospital was successful.

To the rescue

MAY I pass on my sincere thanks to the young man and woman who came to my aid when I suffered a nasty fall on the Tanworth Lane allotments on Friday last.

They helped me to get to a nearby house where friends Mr and Mrs Knight (who we also wish to thank) tended to my wounded head and the young couple went out of their way to deliver our dog home and to tell my wife where I was.

In the confusion we did not manage to get their names but we very much appreciate their time and assistance.
