A pensioner has been arrested after a 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on a bus travelling through Chelmsley Wood.
Police have arrested a 79-year-old man in connection with the assault, which happened on Monday, September 15, on the 966 bus route from Solihull train station.
Police were called to Chelmsley Road at around 5.55pm last Monday after all passengers were told to leave the vehicle, near to Keepers Lodge, following the attack.
The driver had been alerted to an assault moments earlier involving the teenage girl. The youngster was not injured and the 79-year-old has been released on bail.
DC Adam Ridout, from the force’s public protection unit, urged passengers to come forward. “After the bus was stopped, unfortunately some people continued with their journey before police arrived and we now need to trace those passengers,” he said, “particularly a man who spoke to the teenager to see if she was OK.”
Call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
