A GRAND total of £15,881.57 is the record-breaking amount raised in one season by the Sports Argus Charity Darts Squad.
Formed in 1947 the Birmingham-based squad have just completed their 63rd consecutive season which consisted of 26 matches together with several other events.
Donations have been made to the following charities:
Birmingham Childrens Hospital £5,371.67, County Air Ambulance £5,000, Burns Unit Selly Oak Hospital £1,095.50, Troop Aid £1,000, Young Persons Cancer Unit QE Hospital £1,000, Sunday Mercury Give a Child Health £600, Birmingham Mail Charity Fund £600, St Dunstans £604.40, Lifeboat Association £610.
The darts stars are reputed to be the longest running charity darts squad in the British Isles and since their formation have raised near to £300,000 for local charities.
Members say a very big thank-you to all those darts leagues, clubs and individuals who have supported the Sports Argus not only through the current season but all those years prior.
The Sports Argus members also need congratulating as each Friday during the season they travel to meet teams throughout the Midlands completing another wonderful season continuing the tradition of the famous “Men in Red”
