In Tom Stoppard’s translation of the French play, WWI veterans Gustav, Philippe and Henri pass their time grumbling about the staff, dreaming about young women, and arguing over whether a statue of a dog is alive.
They decide to escape from the retirement home, run by nuns, where they live, to run away to Indo China, or at least as far as the poplar trees on the hill.
Presented by Duckbrothers Productions this poignant and hilarious play is a gentle observation of old age, distant memories and hope.
Heroes runs from May 10-12 with performances starting at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £12.50 (concs £10) available at www.macarts.co.uk
