FORMER post office worker Francis Smallwood celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends last month.
Mr Smalllwood received a tankard and presentation from top union officials from the post office to commemorate 60 years spent working for the company and as a post office engineer at sites all over the country.
The centenarian was visited by friends and family from across the world, with his daughter flying over from South Africa, to join the April 29 celebrations at his home in Alexandra Court Nursing Home, Olton.
Court manager Anita Shan added: “He’s such a lovely man. We always make a real fuss over birthdays, as if they were your own grandparents. You want them to be as happy as they can be.”
