BALSALL Common endurance athlete Paddy Doyle is set to add another world record to his vast collection when he lands in New York this week.

The super fit sportsman is representing Great Britain in the World Record Holders Challenge Cup which will see competitors

from Great Britain and Europe battling it out against their American counterparts for supremacy.

Paddy, who came second at the last Challenge Cup two years ago, is determined to be in peak physical condition on August 16 and has undertaken a punishing physical and mental regime.

"I am doing lots of cross country hill training with 40-50 pound back packs in preparation for the event and training three to four hour a day. I am now vegetarian and take lots of vitamins - in fact I have lost a lot more weight since giving up meat."

Paddy will need all his resources to make it through to the finish in the competition which will see him carry 40 pound back packs in five gruelling events.
