TWO men have appeared before Solihull Magistrates accused of stealing charity bags of clothing left on people’s doorsteps.
Police had arrested the 20 and 22-year-old, after stopping a white transit van in Lincoln Road, Olton on February 25. They had been conducting an operation to crackdown on metal theft.
The vehicle was seized for having no road insurance and the older man was also charged with road traffic offences.
The pair, who are Romanian nationals living in Birmingham, pleaded not guilty to the theft charges on March 12.
At the same hearing, the 22-year-old admitted driving the van without a licence or insurance.
Magistrates agreed to adjourn the case until April 20 so an interpreter could be found for the trial. The accused received unconditional bail.
