Pampering in style - with personal touch

WITH the first night of the annual festivities looming in the shape of a cricket dinner and presentation, I thought it was time for a bit of early pampering and grooming to get myself into the ‘party mood’.

WITH the first night of the annual festivities looming in the shape of a cricket dinner and presentation, I thought it was time for a bit of early pampering and grooming to get myself into the ‘party mood’.

Looking for somewhere that could offer the ‘full works’ without the hassle of town centre parking I found myself in Meriden - to indulge in a new hair and beauty experience at recently-opened fordes onthegreen.

You may think that Meriden, apart from its standing as the centre of England, is little more than a tiny Warwickshire village and you would be right - but fordes onthegreen is as far removed from a village hairdresser as you are likely to find.

Owners Louise and Sean Forde have already found success with their premises in Hampton-in-Arden but have now taken the whole concept a step further with their new venture.

Along with a team of doctors, designers and therapists they now offer much more than hair care - everything from facials to eye-brow tinting, bodywraps to tanning, acupuncture and even a cosmetic doctor available (by appointment only) offering laser treatments, botox and non-surgical lifts and peels.

So with only a few hours to spare before the carriage (ok taxi) was due to arrive, the team set to work to get me ‘glammed up’.

I started off with a swedish massage that was just the thing to relieve the tensions of the past hectic week and emerged relaxed and ready for the ‘next ‘round.’

Louise’s expert eye had soon spotted the shortcomings in my crowning glory and advised new colours and re-style to remedy the situation.

So with foils in place and glass of rose going down nicely she then decided a complete make-over wouldn’t go amiss. With the help of their latest range of new id cosmetics and Louise’s steady hand I was soon looking suitably smokey-eyed and dewy-lipped.

With Louise putting the finishing touches to my hair while my nails were filed and painted I really did feel I was getting the personal touch that is lacking in so many establishments.

The men are not overlooked at fordes either - there is a dedicated men’s area where they offer traditional open blade shaving, complete with hot and cold towels.

And as if that’s not enough you can always pop along with the kids to the ‘Wacky Hairhouse’ with a big screen and Xbox to keep the little ones amused.

It seems that the Fordes have thought of everything. Pop along to see them soon, you’ll soon feel like part of the family, if not quite belle of the ball.
