Parish councillor suspended for failing to treat others with respect

A PARISH councillor has been suspended for three-months following an investigation into his behaviour.

A PARISH councillor has been suspended for three-months following an investigation into his behaviour.

Councillor Patrick Nash, of Balsall Common Parish Council, was found to have breached two sections of the members’ code of conduct.

A Solihull Council panel found that he’d failed to treat others with respect and had brought his office as councillor into disrepute.

The authorities had received complaints about Coun Nash from Jyoti Jaspal, owner of a local nursery.

A dispute had risen over payments by Mrs Jaspal to hire the Chadwick End Village Hall.

But the panel ruled that the councillor had not breached further sections, relating to bullying and intimidation.

Coun Nash was suspended from January 28 and for the next three months he won’t be allowed to attend parish meetings, vote or act as a councillor.

He has also been ordered to apologies to the complainants, though he has the right to appeal against the panel’s decision.
