MARSTON Green residents hope that a new park and ride will ease congestion on the village roads.
Earlier this year, the Solihull News was contacted by residents who were worried that the work seemed to have stopped at the site.
Centro said they were going through final negotiations and work was due to finish in a couple of months.
Now the transport authority has opened the facility, creating 55 spaces at nearby Sheldon Country Park.
It’s hoped that the scheme will ease overcrowding - the railway station’s existing car park is often full before the end of the morning rush hour.
Councillor Alan Martin (Con, Bickenhill) said: “I’m very glad the car park is now open as it should get rid of unnecessary congestion in Elmdon Lane and that’s good news for the residents living there.”
Further improvements - to the bus shelters and parking bays outside the interchange - will begin later this year.
