Parking joy for shoppers

RELIEVED residents and traders from Hobs Moat were celebrating yesterday (Thursday) as they were granted their wish for increased parking spaces at their local shopping centre.

RELIEVED residents and traders from Hobs Moat were celebrating yesterday (Thursday) as they were granted their wish for increased parking spaces at their local shopping centre.

Desperate pleas from locals were finally resolved as Solihull Council announced that 30 free car parking spaces were to be introduced on the grass verge at the junction of Hobs Moat Road and Ulleries Road.

Waiting time will be limited to two hours with no return within one hour with the exception of disabled badge holders who will have a waiting time of three hours and no return within one hour in the four disabled parking bays.

The current 'no waiting' restrictions in the area will also be extended from the service road to the entrance of the new car park.

Cabinet Member for Transport, Highways and Infrastructure, Councillor Ted Richards, said he hopes the new scheme will help troubled residents after an estimated 2,900 people signed a petition to resolve parking problems in the area.
