IT’S a record breaker! Yet again this year’s Knowle Fun Run has broken records attracting more runners than ever.
Organisers Knowle and Dorridge Lions had increased the number of places to 1,950 this year but had call a halt there due to safety reasons.
Now just a few places remain in the under 9’s Mini Runs and you can enter your youngster at www.KnowleFunRun.org.uk
Organiser Adrian Harris said he felt the eaerly spring sunshine was behind the surge in entries: “It could be the recent fine weather enabling runners to get out training which has encouraged more entries.”
As ever the organisers are asking the indulgence of locals when the road closures slide into place for the event on Sunday, May 10.
“Once again runners will enjoy running along traffic free roads,” said Adrian.
“Last year, following advice from the police and council, we closed the roads along the route and set up diversions around Knowle for an hour or so and found that generally residents, who were not actually taking part, were pleased to enjoy a real community atmosphere.”
This year comedian Don Maclean will be setting the mini runners on their way from 11am with the main five mile fun run off at 12noon.
Lions president John Heard added: “We have given Knowle residents advance notice, each home receiving a letter explaining the arrangements which we hope will not inconvenience people unduly.”
