Pedalling sisters are aiming at the jackpot

CYCLING sisters Susie and Jo Murray are in training to pedal from Lands End to John O’Groats in aid of Solihull Samaritans.

CYCLING sisters Susie and Jo Murray are in training to pedal from Lands End to John O’Groats in aid of Solihull Samaritans.

The twosome are due to set off on June 25 and hope to complete the 1,050 mile course in 23 days as they ride the length of the country.

On the way they hope to raise £5,250 for the worthwhile charity which annually helps thousands of local people.

Susie said “I’m not sure which is going to be the bigger challenge - getting up those hills or hitting the fund raising target, but if you think you could help, please sponsor as many miles as you can via the website just giving which ensures that the monies raised reaches the Samaritans.”

Wendy Smith, Solihull Samaritans branch director added: “We are so grateful to the Murray sisters for taking on this huge challenge to help raise funds for the Solihull Samaritans especially as it costs over £20,000 each year to maintain the centre.

“With no funding available, we rely heavily on support such as this. Someone contacts the Samaritans for help every seven seconds so imagine how many calls we deal with in the time it will take them to reach their goal - their support will help to ensure that we can keep on doing this in the future.”
