A PENSIONER has appeared in court accused of defrauding Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs out of £250,000.

A PENSIONER has appeared in court accused of defrauding Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs out of £250,000.

John Powell, 73, now of Kenilworth, faces a charge of failing to declare income from self employment and failing to declare income tax and national insurance due on that income - with a resulting tax loss in Solihull of £258,806.00 between May 1, 1992 and April 20, 2012.

Solihull Magistrates adjourned the case until July 1.
