Planning approval for office blocks in Streetsbrook Road refused

COUNCILLORS have thrown out plans to change two homes on a busy borough road into office blocks, arguing the street should remain a residential area.

Solihull Council wanted to change 150 and 153 Streetsbrook Road from residential into office use.

But at last week’s planning committee meeting, members agreed the area should remain for housing only.

Councillor John Windmill (Lib Dem, Olton) said: “I can remember the gnashing of teeth when offices were erected between the fire station and the railway bridge. We had no choice there but we must preserve the character of this road. We have got to keep this area as a residential road and I think the residents living there would be very upset if this scheme was approved.”
