A CYCLIST was rushed to hospital last Wednesday following a hit-and-run incident near Sheldon Country Park.

Emergency services found the stricken cyclist - a 40-year-old-man - at the junction of Church Road and Rosecroft Road. His bicycle had been involved in a collision with a van at around 6.20pm and he had suffered serious injuries.

Officers are urging the van driver, who sped away from the scene, to come forward.

Insp Mark Watkins said: “They may not be aware of how serious the injuries to the cyclist are, so I would urge them to contact us as soon as possible. Finally if anybody sees a vehicle with fresh accident damage overnight, then please let us know.”

Anyone with information should call West Midlands Police on 101.
