DETECTIVES are asking residents and retailers with CCTV cameras to check footage in the hope of spotting a vehicle they suspect of being involved in at least two burglaries.
Solihull Police seized a royal blue Ford Escort Estate – registration X52 YNG – earlier this week that they believe was used during a burglary on Saturday afternoon (July 31) off Kenilworth Road in Balsall Common.
The car’s occupants – two white males and one black male aged around 20 – smashed a glass front door pane at the luxury property before grabbing keys to a black BMW coupe and driving off in the vehicle.
And it’s understood the same blue Escort Estate took thieves to an address in Buckley Green, Henley-in-Arden, two days later (Monday August 2) where they stole a silver Land Rover Discovery.
Officers say the car is likely to have been in the Knowle, Dorridge or Balsall Common area between 11am and 4pm on Saturday (July 31) – and are appealing to CCTV owners to check recordings in an attempt to trace the vehicle’s movements.
Investigating officer DC Dave Hollies, said: “It’s crucial that we place this blue Escort Estate in the area around the time of the burglary.
“Hopefully the car, which is fairly distinctive and may well have been driven erratically or aggressively, will have been picked up by private CCTV. I’d urge any camera owners to check footage and contact me if they think they’ve caught the car on tape.
“Equally, I’d be keen to hear from any eye witnesses who remember seeing the car.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Hollies on 0121 712 6080.
