TEN West Midlands Police non-emergency call ‘hubs’ are to shut as the force looks to save £126m in the face of Government spending cuts.

The plans will see the service centralised to the two remaining call centre ‘hubs’ at Lloyd House in Birmingham and West Bromwich police station.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said the changes, which will save the force £3.9m in the 2014/15 financial year, also aimed to improve the number of calls answered within the force’s 30-second target.
