POLICE are hunting down a suspected sex offender after an indecent assault took place in a local cinema.

A 23-year-old woman was indecently assaulted on Monday in a screening room in Cineworld at Touchwood Shopping Centre.

It was only when the Asian male left his seat at around 6pm to go to the toilet that the victim escaped from the cinema.

The offender is described as an Asian male, 5ft 10ins tall, in his late 40s with a short beard and round rimmed glasses.

He was wearing a dark blue turban, light blue coat and black trousers and also holding a grey side bag.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the incident which occurred between 4:10pm and 6pm.

Detective Inspector Darren Lee from CID at Solihull police station, said: “We are aware the offender approached the victim within Mell Square, Solihull a short while before the incident. It is possible he then followed her into the cinema.

“We would appeal for any witnesses who may have seen the suspect and victim together in Mell Square and particularly outside and in the foyer of Cineworld. We would also urge anyone who recognises the description of the suspect, particularly if they have been approached in a similar manner, to contact police.”

Anyone with information should call CID at Solihull police station on 0845 113 5000.
