Police raid drug factory

A YOUNG woman and a six-month old baby were found at what’s believed to be one of the biggest cannabis factories ever uncovered in Solihull.

A YOUNG woman and a six-month old baby were found at what’s believed to be one of the biggest cannabis factories ever uncovered in Solihull.

As many as 450 plants were discovered, when police raided a semi-detached home in Conway Road, Fordbridge.

Officers swooped on Monday afternoon and found the foliage - enough to have produced around £50,000 of drugs.

The Kingshurst & Fordbridge neighbourhood team had moved in, following tip-offs from suspicious neighbours.

A Vietnamese woman, in her mid-20s, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

The infant, also found at the address, is being cared for by the police protection unit.

PC Tom Thacker, one of the officers to raid the four bedroom home, said: “It was a professional set-up, designed to produce cannabis on a grand scale.”

PC Thacker thanked the residents who’d contacted police and urged people to keep an eye-out in their neighbourhood.

Call police on 0345 113 5000.
