Police seek gang over park attack

THUGS wearing ski masks held a meat cleaver to the throat of a teenage boy in a horrific late night attack in a Solihull park.

THUGS wearing ski masks held a meat cleaver to the throat of a teenage boy in a horrific late night attack in a Solihull park.

The terrified 15-year-old suffered grazing in the assault which saw him and his two friends robbed by a gang of three youths aged around 16 and 17-years-old in Meriden Park on Friday May 20.

The police described the yobs as black and are thought to be part of a larger gang of between 10-15 teenagers who have been involved in a spate of recent street robberies in Chelmsley Wood.

The attackers were sitting on a bench in the park in Chelmsley Wood at around 11.30pm when they spotted the three youths walking across a footbridge and demanded money, mobile phones and a bus pass.

A knife was also brandished in the attack.

One of the men wore a jacket with a red Adidas logo and all were dressed in black and wearing ski masks.

DC Craig Munro from Solihull’s Investigation Team said: “This was a horrific attack. The boys are ok now but the parents are very angry.

“No-one was seriously hurt but one youth had grazing to his throat where the meat cleaver made contact. We think they are part of gang of youths in the area involved in street robberies.

“I have arrested a suspect but we need witnesses to come forward, in particular a couple and a man on a bike seen in the area at the time.”

Call DC Craig Munro at Solihull’s Investigation Team on 0345 113 5000 if you have any information.
