It’s a dog’s life.
At Solihull’s first luxury dog hotel, owners will want to stay with their pets.
From the French Fancy and Boat House, to the Beach Hut and Glamping Pad, there is a theme to suit even the most pampered pooch in one of The Dog House’s ten extravagantly-themed rooms.
And for the very poshest pup, there is even a grand Regal Suite.
The idea is the brainchild of dog walker Nyoka Scarlett, founder of Walkies Pet Services in Hampton-in-Arden.
Together with her sister Cyndy, she has invested her savings into taking dog care to the next level with The Dog House in Cornets End Lane, Meriden.
It’s an unlikely setting, based at the former Tarmac Ltd offices, but the site has been transformed into a regular ‘Paw Seasons’.
Works are still being carried out but the hotel is due to be completed before the end of the month, with an official open day held on July 28.
Nyoka, aged 38, said the room’s decor, which is different for each theme, featured artwork, furniture and soft furnishings and, of course, lots of dog toys.
But it was the special attention the animals, including pet massages, that would keep owners coming back.
“People don’t always see it as luxury, they see it as a necessity,” Nyoka added. “Dogs are like children.”
The hotel includes a sensory room, where dogs can meet and socialise with other dogs, under their owners’ watchful eyes.
A bath and brush service is also available, with possible plans for a full grooming salon at a later date.
