KNOWLE Tory Councillor Jeff Potts has weighed up the pros and cons of a possible Knowle park cycle route and decided against supporting it.
He represents a party with which I rarely agree and is most unlikely to get my vote in future but in this instance I feel he is correct that the cycle path as envisaged is wrong for the area.
In any event since the ‘improvements’ in local bus services I do a lot more walking and note that at times we already have cycle paths in Knowle and district - the pavements on Station Road and Widney Road for instance, specially with regard to youngsters. I am easy with this but would just wish to make two requests.
As someone who often shuffles along with what passes as his mind on another planet, could they use, whenever possible the road side of the pavements, and equip themselves with a loud bell or hooter so I know they are coming.
Finally, perhaps the money saved on cycle tracks can be used to re-open and maintain the public conveniences so disgracefully closed by the (yes) Tory council.
