A MUM of two has warned householders to be on their guard after a scrap metal dealer took her daughter’s prams from outside the family’s front door.

Emma Weston who lives in Elmdon with husband Jason and their daughters Layla, aged six and Harriett, 12 months, was furious when she discovered her almost new Mamas & Papas pram which cost £180 and a second pram worth £200 had been taken by, she claims, a passing scrap metal merchant.

“It’s theft. I am so angry. I had three prams in my porch which are used at different times as I don’t drive. On Thursday morning I was tidying the porch and popped two of the prams outside.

“I was only gone two minutes and when I came back they had gone and the scrap iron man was driving fast up the road,” said the 30-year-old Valley Road resident.

“I phoned the police straightaway but they said without a vehicle registration there was nothing they could do.”

Councillor Glenis Slater( Lib Dem) Elmdon added: “This is nothing more than theft. I do think people need to be warned and the police ought to do something about it.”
