Price hike in Solihull car park charges

CAR parking charges are set to go up in Solihull town centre from January 24.

CAR parking charges are set to go up in Solihull town centre from January 24.

Monkspath Hall Road will see a rise from £2.80 to £3 for up to six hours while over six hours will cost motorists £3.50, up from £3.

Annual or quarterly permits can also be bought. An annual permit will now be charged at £700 (currently £645) and a quarterly one will cost £175 (currently £161.25).

Some short stay car parking will be affected by the increase in VAT with most adding an extra 10p on to current charges.

Street pay and display parking will remain at their current prices, while a Lode Lane season ticket will cost £405 quarterly or £1,400 annually.

Councillor David Jamieson, Cabinet Member for Transport and Highways, said: “Car parking charges in Solihull are much cheaper than those in our neighbouring authorities and will continue to be so even with these increases. We think these new prices are fair and will ensure people can still afford to park, shop and enjoy leisure facilities in Solihull.”
