ANGRY locals are holding a ‘Save Shirley Library’ rally next weekend in protest over proposals to relocate the facility to Parkgate.

ANGRY locals are holding a ‘Save Shirley Library’ rally next weekend in protest over proposals to relocate the facility to Parkgate.

Solihull Ratepayers will join local community groups and residents at the rally, beginning at 11am on Saturday May 11 in St James Churchyard, to call for the library to remain in its Church Road premises and for Solihull Council to instead invest in improvements in its own freehold buildings.

A Ratepayers’ spokesman said: “The feedback from the Shirley community is that they are overwhelmingly opposed to selling off the existing library plus a few car parking spaces probably for offices.

“The rally is a show of numbers and an opportunity to sign a petition on attendance and also pick up and complete a consultation form at the Shirley Library.”
