BIRMINGHAM International Airport has spent more than £12m on insulating homes over the past three decades.

It’s 30 years since the airport launched its Sound Insulation Scheme and during that time, the company has installed double gazing at over 7000 properties close to its boundary.

Paul Kehoe, chief executive of BIA, said: “It’s a special year for Birmingham Airport. Not only are we celebrating our 70th Anniversary but it has also been 30 years since we started insulating homes around the site, and I’m very proud of the £12m commitment we’ve made so far.”

The airport holds regular outreach sessions in the local community where people can meet with community and environment team and air their views.
