FORTY five mystery shoppers, aged between 13 and 14 years old, put staff through their paces this week at ASDA in Chelmsley Wood, Solihull, as part of an ‘on the job’ training exercise designed to teach them valuable skills.

The Year 9 students from Grace Academy Solihull joined students from Grace Academies in Darlaston and Coventry to take part in the Customer Service Day, organised in partnership with ASDA, LaSer UK and Xoserve.

Anne Maddox, Community Life Colleague from ASDA in Chelmsley Wood, said: “Our mystery shoppers were surprised to discover that we monitor the customer service levels of every member of staff on an on-going basis against our ‘Happy to Help’ criteria. I think it’s great that students are given the chance to get a better insight into how businesses operate first hand, in the real world. As well as testing out our staff, students also received customer service training.”
