PUPILS at Coppice Junior school are doing their bit to help the environment and reduce the school’s energy bills.
The school recently won the bronze award for ECO schools which involves a team of pupils monitoring electricity, water and recycling across the school.
Duties for the schools eco team include checking for running taps, ensuring lights are turned off in classrooms not in use etc.
Ms Woolven is in charge of the eco team and she feels that they have made great progress these last few weeks.
“The children are working very hard and they are taking their assigned responsibilities very seriously.
After our first meter reading at the group meeting, we will be able to work out just how much energy we have saved, and then progress from there.”
The eco team consists of pupils from all ages at the school, which includes the hall monitors and a press team.
