POLICE and Solihull Council are working together to crack down on people who produce and distribute counterfeit goods in the borough.

On Monday August 4, officers from the east neighbourhood team at Shirley police station, working in conjunction with Solihull Council's trading standards officers, executed a search warrant at an address in Shirley.

Approximately £10,000 worth of counterfeit DVDs and CDs were seized. The majority of DVDs were films currently showing in cinemas and recently released on general sale. Enquiries in respect of this operation are still ongoing.

The police, in partnership with Solihull Council, will conduct further operations intended to combat and disrupt those involved in criminal activities such as organised counterfeiting.

Members of the community should report any concerns regarding counterfeiting to police in Solihull on 0845 113 5000, or to the council's trading standards officers via Consumer Direct on 08454 040506.
