PROFESSOR Peter Farndon has been awarded a CBE for his services to medicine in the Queen’s birthday honours list.

PROFESSOR Peter Farndon has been awarded a CBE for his services to medicine in the Queen’s birthday honours list.

Prof Farndon, aged 60, from Solihull, became the first full-time consultant clinical geneticist in the West Midlands in 1984 and has always tried to make sure that scientific advances in his field are used to help patients and families with genetic diseases.

Originally from Derbyshire, Peter has lived in the borough for many years, and is now the director of the NHS National Genetics Education and Development Centre in Edgbaston and Professor of Clinical Genetics at the University of Birmingham.
