Five young cancer patients from the borough, who receive support from Brain Tumour UK, were invited with their carers to a Formula Renault 3.5 Championship race meeting at Silverstone where they met with young local racing star Nick Yelloly.

The youngsters were able to sit at the wheel of Nick’s stunning red car in its trackside garage, with a great view of the weekend’s racing, while the 21-year-old speed fiend moved up four places in the championship.

Nick, who helps to promote the charity by driving with its logo on his car, said: “It was a real pleasure to meet some of the people that Brain Tumour UK supports and to give them an insight into what it’s like behind the scenes at a race weekend.

“Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.”
