Racing fan is remembered

A LIFELONG racing fan, Frank Cooke enjoyed a flutter on the horses.

A LIFELONG racing fan, Frank Cooke enjoyed a flutter on the horses.

Sadly, Frank died in January this year, but in his memory, a race night is being held at the Highwood Pub, in Solihull, on May 26, to raise funds for Parkinsons UK Solihull.

His granddaughter, Laura Cooke, needs to raise a minimum of £1500 to take part in a sponsored bike ride, RACE A – B – an epic five day adventure from the west coast at Aberystwyth to the east coast at Bertrams, Norwich, over 260 miles away.

Frank’s carer, Margaret Clavin, said: “The Solihull branch were very good to Frank, and me as his carer, and his granddaughter wanted to raise money for them.”

The race night will be a professionally organised event, with eight races. It’s free, and there will be food available to order. The event takes place on May 26, from 7.30pm, at the Highwood Pub, Highfield Avenue.
