Raffle raises cash for trip

A CHARITY raffle held in memory of a local mum who lost her battle with cancer has raised over £2,000.

A CHARITY raffle held in memory of a local mum who lost her battle with cancer has raised over £2,000.

After Michelle Keaney passed away last October, her friend Rebecca Enright decided to organise a Grand Raffle over Christmas to raise money for the family to fulfil Michelle’s dream of taking her children to Lapland.

Local and national companies donated prizes to the raffle which raised £2,050 to fund the family’s trip, with Michelle’s two young children, aged seven and four.

Some of that will buy memorial trophies which will be given out yearly at Our Lady of the Wayside school where the raffle and nativity took place. Rebecca said: “So many companies in Solihull were extremely generous.”

Businesses that donated included The Best of Solihull, Earlswood Plants, MPS Builders Merchants, Mortons, The Farm and Browns of Solihull.
