Raid terror at local building society

A MAN threatened terrified staff at a Shirley building society with a claw hammer before escaping with an unspecified quantity of cash.

A MAN threatened terrified staff at a Shirley building society with a claw hammer before escaping with an unspecified quantity of cash.

The robbery took place shortly before 5pm on Friday, January 2, at the Nationwide Building Society in Stratford Road.

The robber was white, in his twenties and around 5ft 10in tall.

He was wearing a green parka coat, with a furry hat and baseball cap.

Detectives think he may have escaped on a bus heading towards Solihull Lodge.
