Rap on the Villa!

A RAPPING pensioner is one of several Solihull football fans who have penned songs to celebrate Aston Villa reaching the League Cup final.

A RAPPING pensioner is one of several Solihull football fans who have penned songs to celebrate Aston Villa reaching the League Cup final.

Villa will be playing Man Utd on Sunday, hoping to win their first silverware for 14 years.

And to cheer the team along, a number of local supporters have recorded their own songs. But will the fans be singing them on Wembley’s terraces?

Great granny Althea Gaye, from Hobs Moat, has come up with the AV Carling Cup Rap.

Eighty-eight-year-old Althea is one half of the Octave Tinkling Twosome - performing alongside Ray Fullard.

Colin Davies, also from Solihull, has taken inspiration from Barry Manilow. His song, Aston Villa Carling Cup 2010, reworks the 1970s hit Copacabana.

And then of course there’s Championees - sung by X-Factor finalist and former Chelmsley Wood girl Niki Evans.
