MUSCLEMAN Paddy Doyle proved that even the strongest and hardest of us can be touched when it comes to love.
The 43-year-old proposed to long-term girlfriend Deborah Green in a New York restaurant minutes after achieving his 12th world record of the year, but admitted he had never been so nervous before popping the question.
"I had a trapped nerve in my back but the American supporters were so good and so supportive I forgot all about it" he said.
"The record attempt was very nerve racking but nothing like as bad as when I proposed."
Despite being well-known for his gruelling gut-busting training regimes, and ferocious record-breaking antics, Paddy showed that he is still a true gentleman after all.
"I got down on one knee and did it the old fashioned way."
The Balsall Common fitness fanatic felt the time was right to declare his undying love to Deborah after the pair were invited to the Big Apple by members of the Registry of World Record Holder's Association.
During his stay Paddy broke the record for the most number of one-arm pushups in a minute while carrying a 40lbs backpack.
He managed 30 lifts to win his latest strength, fitness and endurance title at the Equinox Fitness Club.
Throughout his career he has smashed more than 150 world records and has since been honoured as the world's fittest athlete.
