Youngsters make a dash for the finish in the Blythe Valley Park Charity Fun Run

A RECORD number of runners took part in the sixth annual Blythe Valley Park Charity Fun Run in Solihull.

Just under 300 people tackled the 10km and 5km courses as well as a mini fun run, set off by former Birmingham City FC star Don Givens.

Everyone who took part in the run, which was again organised by the business park’s management team Liberty Property Trust UK and the Shirley Lions Club, helped raise about £3,000 for this year’s chosen charity, Solihull Autistic Support Service Information (SASSI), through the entry fees that were collected.

The fastest home in the 10km runs were Richard Gallios and Claire Wilson, while the 5km honours were claimed by Pierre Dalley and 14-year-old Frankie Nesirky from Ireland.

Super Girl Grace Carpenter won the best fancy dress award, and there were also prizes for the oldest and youngest runners – 78-year-old Charles Morley and seven-year-old Benjamin Davis.
