REVISED plans for a Sainsbury’s supermarket in Dorridge has been backed by Dorridge & District Residents’ Association (DDRA).
The plans have divided opinion in Dorridge with a local opposition group - Dorridge Residents Opposed to Village Superstore (DROVS) active in the village.
However the chairman of DDRA Ian Spencer said: “We feel there has been enough surveys.
“DROVS need to realise that there are a lot of people that do want this.
“There are worries about traffic and it does seem to have increased in Dorridge, but the majority of people who completed the survey in the actual application Sainsbury’s submitted during the January consultation, said they were content with the new design.”
Mr Spencer added: “Even within our own association there are people vehemently against it and there are others who are disappointed that there are those against the store.
“The committee isn’t divided - we understand the risks and we are clear in our own minds that on balance it’s a better thing.”
